A self-taught artist. Active in Suriname between 1979 and 1989, where he painted under the pseudonym Kingbotho. He was the first maroon to produce modern art. His work is figurative and abstract-realist with cubistic elements. His maroon origins form the prevailing theme. André Mosis is also a master drummer. In 1989 he settled in the Netherlands where since 1990 he has taugh world music in The Hague.
