Subsequently (ca 1925) ran an art studio in the Domineestraat with some forty students where he taught drawing, painting, batik-making and stencilling. MO-A Drawing in the Netherlands. Returned to Suriname in 1931 as a qualified art teacher and worked as a teacher in art education until his retirement. He never had any desire to present himself as an artist. His greatest contribution lay in his stimulation of talented students, the most notable being Erwin de Vries.
