From 1987 to 1990 active in Suriname as a painter and as a teacher at the NHI. He subsequently worked in the Nederlands. After taking drawing lessons with Hatterman, Blaaker taught himself to paint. This became his dominant passion. He experimented with different styles, and after his return from the United States his technical brilliance and easy painterly style created a strong impression. He also sought to develop a Surinam Pop Art through the combination of diverse images and texts.
